　　WURR针对各个国家的高校科研实力进行了综合排名，包含美国，其中16所美国大学科研实力居于全球前五十，成为美国科研实力最强大学的主力代表。据悉，世界大学研究排名确定了三个关键方面，即研究多学科性(% multi-field documents、% multi-category documents)研究影响力(Category Normalised Citation Impact、% documents in Q1 journals (Top quartile of journals based on Journal Impact Factor、% documents in top 1% most cited documents by field, year and document type)和研究协作性(% industry collaboration、%international collaboration)。为了定量衡量这三个方面，该次榜单以Web of Science为数据来源，采用OECD模式，选取了7个指标，对于每所大学，这7项指标的数值将被归一化，并聚合在各自的排名中。
